Use this natural cotton fiber rope to make simple casket handles. The rope is the natural color of unbleached cotton. Rope is sold by the foot. Order at least 20 feet to create 8 handles on a standard casket with one single continuous piece of rope. Be sure to order a 1-1/4 inch drill bit if you don't already have one!
For equal spacing of 3 handles each 18 inches in length, and IF you are using our plans or a kit with a casket side wall that is 78 inches long and 8 inches high, follow the diagram. On a line 8 inches up from the bottom edge, place a mark at 6, 24, and 30 inches from the corners and drill a 1-1/4 hole at each. On the short side, place a mark 4-6 inches from the corners and up 8 inches from the bottom.
For a narrower handle place marks at 7, 23, and 31 inches from each corner on the long sides and you will have three 16 inch handles evenly spaced on the side of the casket.
